Cooper Webb adds himself to the long line of factory stars absent for the 450 supercross series after KTM released a statement saying a heavy practice crash this week means Webb will not be participating tomorrow but hopes to return to racing by next weekend. On a more positive note, Sexton, Anstie and McElrath are believed to be back this weekend.
MURRIETA, Calif. – Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Cooper Webb will miss this Saturday’s St. Louis Supercross, Round 13 of the 2022 AMA Supercross Championship, after suffering a practice crash that left him pretty banged up while training in Florida this week. The defending 450SX Champion did not sustain any serious injuries and he will use this next week to recover in hopes of lining up at Round 14 in Atlanta, Georgia on April 16.
Webb has recently went back to Aldon Baker’s after leaving the intense program following his supercross title win last year but after a tough season, Webb returned to the legendary trainer to find his form again but this crash halts any momentum in what has been a tough season for the defending champ with the new KTM.
Aldon said in a recent interview with Jason Weigandt: “I think Coop looked for little avenues he could possibly change up that might helped him in areas, but obviously it doesn’t work out that good. Now he’s come back to sort of regroup and figure out okay, I’ve been down that road and I’m back. There was no bad blood so that avenue is completely open.”
