After confirming the signing of Chris Mills, SB KTM Racing, a new team in the GP paddock for 2022 have confirmed the signing of Miguel de Waal. It’s a big opportunity for the South African to ride with some of the highly regarded riders in the world and he’ll be looking to learn a lot in 2022.
As well as the EMX250 series, de Waal will contest the ADAC Youngsters Cup series in Germany.
“I actually originally had some other plans for my racing in 2022, until Sofian from SB Racing gave me a call with an opportunity of a life time and I would’ve been silly to have turned it down. It has all come at quite a surprise with not much time to prepare but I am over the moon to be here in Europe living my dream”, de Waal told GateDrop.com.
“It’s a dream come true to have an opportunity to race at this level. Especially coming from South Africa, these things come very rarely so I’m going to take this opportunity with both hands and give it my all. With it being my first year in the class and on the 250cc, I’d like to be realistic and say my expectations are to qualify for all my races and put together 2 solid moto’s each time. As the year goes on I can make more goals for myself once I see where I stand. I definitely like to thank my mom, stepdad, and just my entire family back home for supporting me on this journey. Also would like to thank Sofian for seeing something in me and giving me this incredible opportunity”, the South African concluded.
