Race results: MX2 World Championship RD1 – De Wolf wins in Argentina

The opening MX2 race didn’t take long before the drama started! Marc-Antoine Rossi got the holeshot but it didn’t take Lucas Coenen to make a move.

The Belgian then had a crash and picked up a thumb injury – he had a DNF. That allowed Rossi get into the lead and he was looking a million dollars at the front with around a five seconds lead. He had a small crash though dropping him back to third behind Benistant and Langenfelder.

Langenfelder then made a move for the lead and pulled away at the front but then with two laps to go De Wolf joined the party for the battle for second. Rossi looked to attack Benistant for second but then had another crash. De Wolf then passed Benistant around the last corner for second – what a move.

Mikkel Haarup had a good ride for fifth on his Triumph debut. Reigning champion, Andrea Adamo got a bad start and only recovered to eighth.

The second race – wow! What a race! Lucas Coenen lined up despite a thumb injury and didn’t take that long to get to the front again before going off the track! Determined he got to the front again passing Langenfelder to pull away at the front.

Kay de Wolf was the man on the move as he came from fourth to catch and pass Langenfelder and Haarup for second which was enough for the overall. But then drama with a couple of corners to go – Coenen crashed again despite his heroic effort and gifted the win to De Wolf – that’s the second GP overall win of his career.

Haarup had a superb debut for Triumph to finish second and third overall.

Benistant had a bad start in race two and could only recover to seventh for fourth overall.

Adamo rode better for fifth ahead of Camden McLellan – a great debut for Triumph!
