A beautiful track showed it’s teeth in Argentina under the false premise of loamy looking soil with a rock hard base and choppy bumps littering a fast flowing track making mistakes painful.
But it was Tim Gajser who navigated it best to take the overall in MXGP, his third in a row, however, yet again there was no 1-1 with Maxime Renaux splitting moto wins with the championship leader!
Renaux rode an excellent race one after Pauls Jonass, who was flying, crashed out of the lead and handed the Frenchman the initiatitive. From there, Renaux rode flawless despite big pressure from Tim Gajser to take his first moto win of the year.
Race two and Prado got his first holeshot of the weekend but was quickly displaced by Gajser who gradually pulled away and looked to be having a great time on the spectacular circuit.
Renaux though was on the move coming from around fifth to take second despite admitting he wasn’t 100% this weekend – we believe he picked up an injury in between round two and three.
Jorge Prado took third overall but didn’t have his usual pace all weekend as Ruben Fernandez shone in race two to take third on the last lap of race two after crashing out of the lead on lap two of race one!
Gajser said: “I was enjoying all weekend. The track was sketchy you didn’t want to overide the track.”

Tom Vialle took the MX2 overall win after a double moto duel at a hot pace with championship leader, Jago Geerts.
Geerts rode a terrific first moto, after he lost the lead on lap one to Vialle, he stalked the Frenchman before making his move at the end of an exciting first moto and a classy, decisive ride by the Belgian.
Race two and Tom Vialle learnt his lesson. This time he stalked Geerts, made the move and eventually broke Geerts with a couple of laps to go to win the GP on a tie-break. Geerts, who said he was suffering with blisters, wisely deciding discretion was the better part of valour on the sketchy circuit after some big crashes and injuries over the weekend.
Vialle said: “I’m so happy. The last few weeks was tough, I had a big crash in Mantova and it stays in the brain. I really wanted to win that second moto.”
Third overall went to a rapid Mikkel Haarup who worked his way into third in race two to clinch the podium and put himself fourth in the championship after a big crash by Kay de Wolf in race one ended his day as he sought to go with Geerts and Vialle at the front.
