PR- RHL Activities caught up with two of the youngsters racing for the new Hitachi KTM UK ASA Scaffolding Motocross Youth Team, which will be competing in the 2018 Judd KTM British Youth National Championship.
Roger Magee, founder of the most successful outfit in the adult ACU British Motocross Championship, which has accumulated total of 11 titles over the last 10 years, announced recently that the Hitachi KTM UK ASA Scaffolding squad will be continuing its support for young riders with an increased effort by forming an official junior team. With the knowledge and experience of working with riders over many years, the youth team riders will enjoy assistance to maximise their potential in the quest reach the very top level in motocross.
Team riders Cain McElveen and Ryan Mawhinney will both compete at the Judd KTM British Youth Championship on-board the new KTM 85cc Big Wheel and are excited as they head into the new season.
RHL: How do you feel going into this season and competing at the Judd KTM British Youth National Championship?
Cain: “I am excited, yet nervous at the same time as it is the top Championship in the UK and it has been two years since I have taken part in the Judd KTM British Youth National Championship.”
Ryan: “I feel very confident and excited going into this year at the Judd KTM British Youth National Championship.”
RHL: It was announced recently that you have signed for the Hitachi KTM ASA Scaffolding Youth Team, how do you feel about the signing and riding for one of the best teams in British Motocross?
Cain: “I am looking forward to being part of the team and I would like thank Roger for this fantastic opportunity.”
Ryan: “I am very pleased to be riding for the Hitachi KTM UK ASA Scaffolding Motocross Youth Team this year.”
RHL: The first round is at Culham and will be part of the first ever British Motocross Festival, have you raced there before and what are you looking forward to at the season opener and the rest of the season?
Cain: “I have never raced at Culham, however I have heard good reports (about the track). I am looking forward to getting the nerves of the first race out of the way and getting stuck in. I missed most of 2017 with an injury whilst riding in the Honda European 150 Championship. I hope to stay injury free and make progress on the ground lost in 2017. The first round for me will be about settling into the racing action again. I hope to improve over every round of the Championship.”
Ryan: “I have raced Culham before and I haven’t had the best of results there, but I hope to finish the first round with a consistent finish. I really want a podium at the first round, the goal is to win and I hope to have a consistent year of riding.”
