Håkon Fredriksen likely to race MX2 in 2022

It was a season of two halves for the talented Håkon Fredriksen who switched teams during the season which always indicates the start of the season didn’t go as planned. The talented Norwegian started the season with the BUD Kawasaki Racing team but had a few too many DNF’s and bike issues.

Since signing with the Riley Racing Yamaha team, Fredriksen has been back riding to his true level and has had the results to go with it even winning two rounds of the EMX250 championship. Despite a tough start to the season he was able to climb up to fifth in the championship standings – he could have battled for the title without the issues at the start of the year.

For the 2022 season, Fredriksen hasn’t quite signed a deal just yet but he told us he’s likely to step up and race the MX2 World Championship in what will be his rookie season in the class.

Fredriksen made his MX2 GP debut at Arco di Trento this year and finished 15-15 which isn’t bad for a first try. With another full winter behind him he’ll be looking to come into the 2022 swinging and there’s no doubt he has the talent and potential to run in the top ten.

With Kevin Horgmo also believed to have inked a deal to contest the MX2 World Championship for the 2022 season it means we are likely to see two Norwegian talents contest the World Championship next year.
